Dirty. Dirty crockery, stained and dirty sheets - room disheveled on arrival. Bathroom tap broken. Noise of traffic and trucks all night from the N2 freeway nearby. Had to carry my bag up 2 flights of stairs late at night. Colleagues were moved rooms at 11h30pm after the smoke alarm malfunctioned in their block. Arrived back to my room unlocked by staff on day 2.

Excellent for family weekend. Lots to do for all. Only down side is the Padel court that absolutely refused to process refunds for customers who booked and paid but couldn't play due to the rain.

The venue has a beautiful landscape and the surrounding area is breathtaking. The rooms are a good size with a rustic, countryside feel. The restaurant provides high quality meals and accomodates large groups. It has facilities for company breakaway sessions. It also accomodates families as it provides outdoor activities like a swimming and a spa.

When I booked online, I booked a room with a bath tub, but ended up in a room with a shower. Reception wasn't that helpful and friendly, especially it being our first time visiting.

Went for A la Carte Sunday lunch at 12:30. None of the 4 or 5 different Sauvignon Blanc wines on the menu was available in stock. Asked for ice 3 times. Mussle starter was nice. Ordered our mains with the starter. At 14h00 we enquired about our main meal. After a second enquiry nothing still happened. At 14:15, after more than an hour of waiting we asked for the bill. The waiter was nowhere, although he clearly had no training. We asked reception about our meal. No apology, nothing. Terrible. What a waste of a good Sunday. And management replies on the bad reviews means nothing, they all sound the same. Will never go back.

We stayed at the Houw Hoek hotel for one night. We had great service and their cocktails were amazing! We left early the next morning, before breakfast times, and the kitchen prepared a breakfast for the road! Thank you for going the extra mile!
